Lufkin Industries has extensive experience servicing and repairing all makes and models of gear units, including units built by manufacturers other than Lufkin Industries.

Our Field Service representatives are backed by our excellent engineering staff, parts department, and industrial gear repair facility. They can repair most gear units on-site.

PREDICTIVE MAINTENANCE SERVICES

CONDITION REPORTING SERVICES
LUFKIN gear specialists will perform periodic visual inspections of your power transmission gear boxes. The equipment's condition will be documented and tracked over time, noting any visible changes in the equipment's condition. For an experienced LUFKIN gear service representative, nothing can replace an actual visual inspection.

VIBRATION ANALYSIS
LUFKIN will perform vibration data collection, analysis and trending using the latest in vibration analysis technology. A machine's vibration signatures carry valuable information about the machine's overall condition, sometimes identifying very specific bearing problems. All while the machine is in operation. Monitored on a regular basis, the machine's future condition can be predicted, and problems may be detected and diagnosed early. Vibration analysis may also be beneficial in locating and damping sources of excessive machine noise. This may help in achieving and maintaining compliance with OSHA regulations.

TRIBOLOGY
LUFKIN will routinely collect oil samples and perform basic preventive maintenance analyses on the oil. The basic analyses will include acidity, water content, total dissolved solids, and ferrous materials content. Other analyses are available if needed or requested.

LUFKIN BRINGS IT ALL TOGETHER FOR YOU
All the data from these analyses will be maintained in a continuously updated database. LUFKIN will consider all the data __ visual, vibratory, and tribological __ collectively to assess the machine's condition. All new data will be diligently compared to the machine's history even though analysis results may be within acceptable limits, trends indicating accelerated wear or other problems may appear. Analysis may allow prediction of remaining life or impending failure. LUFKIN will then bring all these analyses together into one comprehensive report that will give you a clearer picture of your plant's overall health and allow you to operate a more effective and efficient maintenance program.

Field ServicesGear Unit Inspections
A LUFKIN field service representative will perform and document a complete visual inspection of your gear unit.

Complete Unit Installation
LUFKIN can install your new or reconditioned gear unit for you. (note that our gear repair facility's engineering department can design "drop-in" replacements for existing units).

Start-Up Assistance/Set-Up Verification
A LUFKIN service representative can be on-site to assist you during unit start-up to verify that the unit is set up correctly and to detect and solve any problems that may arise during start-up.

Laser Alignment
Proper alignment is crucial to the health of rotating equipment. We use state-of-the-art laser alignment technology to quickly and accurately align your machinery.

Bearing/Rotating Element Replacement
Our service representatives can replace bearings, rotating elements and many other parts on-site, avoiding the time and effort of shipping the unit to a repair facility.

Technical Assistance
